Sophie Nicoll paints what she cannot stop looking at – a street in Seville at a particular hour, the specific colour of the Caribbean at the horizon, the face of someone she loves, the teeming stillness of a reef. Each piece is an act of attention: to something real, specific and luminous that was always there, if you knew how to look. Her work doesn’t decorate a room. It changes how you see the one you’re in.
